There are a lot of closings of Chicago Schools that reopen under “privateers” a lot of unemployed teachers; the order of the day charter schools under a questionable leadership..favoritism, neoptism, cronyism under his watch…Its how he got his job…the regular “neighborhood” schools suffer while they highlight magnet schools in the media…

Improvements? Obviously not enough. Trying to call me a stupid, uneducated hick is hilarious, but go ahead keep trying your cheap shots, they’re not working.

My point is that there are improvements. My point is that saving historically failing systems with little money, political backing, and societal support takes time. If you knew much, you would know that most all urban schools are in a very similar situation. However, you very obviously have no background in or desire to educate yourself on the actual intricacies of our failing schools. You have no argument because you have no facts or expertise.

Yet they are still one on of the worst in the country.
May 21st, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Yet despite that, Chicago Public schools still remain one of the worst in the nation? Your point?

“Under Duncan’s watch, the city’s schools for the past seven years have seen increases in some state test scores, though they continue to lag behind the Illinois average. But the graduation rate has risen 6%, and 53 new schools have opened.” -KATHLEEN KINGSBURY (TIME)
This is not bad to worse. In fact, this is, at the very least, progress. Somehow you felt your uneducated comment would be valuable?

Better rest up for the mandatory civil service plan rolling out soon, courtesy of Rahm Emmanuel. Hope you’re not between the ages of 18 - 25.

You make no sense. You said CPS went from bad to worse under Arne when in actuality the district is improving.
May 21st, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Yet Chicago public schools are still one of the worst in the country. Whats your point?
May 21st, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Increased ACT scores, increased attendance, increased # of students going to college. Sounds like a terrible district to be in. Who is the moron?
May 21st, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Under this morons watch, Chicagos public schools went from bad to worse.

How about school choice for all? That would be a dramatic improvement. There is no evidence that simply spending more and more money on the same system is going to give us a better result. Competition creates and rewards excellence. The system we have rewards mediocrity.
Why shouldn’t all children have the same opportunity for education as the President’s?

Follow your dreams. Just remember, there’s only so much you can accomplish as an educator when you’re up against goliath. Look at Bill Ayers. The man has a Ph.D and has received countless awards for his work in education. What do MOST Americans think when they hear his name?
What this country needs most is people on the front line. And those are the ones in a position to question authority.

Mr. Obama is really born in Kenya, not Hawaii. Spread this everywhere to break the Zionistic Controlled media Forever.

I’m doing observations in Chicago schools this month for my Education Certification. I’ll do a video on what I think of them.
