Don’t have a blog or personal website? Think seriously about creating one, especially a blog. Blogs aren’t just avenues to vent frustrations, talk about your mood or tell people what music you’re listening to. Blogs have come a long way in the last few years and have a tremendous impact on social media. More practically, blogs can be valuable job search and personal branding tools. Dan Schawbel, an expert in personal branding, offers a series of tips for bloggers with differing levels of blogging experience.

There is a lot of hype about using social networking tools, such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Twitter, as part of your job search. But once you’ve set up an account, it’s not always clear how the site can assist you in improving your job search.
