I wanna coach football and open a business teaching football or basketball but I cant because the govn.monopoly I can teach Karate or gymnastics but the most popular sports are off limits to earn a living on. I am as good a reciever as anyone as in the NFL Im that good at catching a football now I cant get open and what not I can teach a kid to catch a ball in a tight coverage but because of monopoly I cant teach it. I did know a guy who made a living in CO. teaching goal tending in hockey

  3. stevemtc1 Says:

You are so right. The govn. says be on this corner at 6:30Am Be in calss at 7:00 Eat at 10:30 go home at 2:00. We become programed instead of creative our work force becomes cogs insead of innovators we end up with competiveless society that is suseptable to large chains like Wal Mart. When did we create the last new auto giant. We dont have entrepreuneures we have breast fed graduates expecting finacial aid from the state. We are creating socialist a useless populous who will be co-dependent

Don’t blame the government, blame the people.
    After all, its a democracy…

  9. ImrIyawesome Says:

    This is fucking stupid.

  10. favfly Says:

Neither would I. But that’s the whole point of privately owned schools - you, the consumer, get to choose where your kids get educated - and there’d be a huge choice. You could even open your own school, then all those other parents who don’t want their kids educated by McDonalds can come to you.

  11. dilbertgeg Says:

Gatto did not say that poor were all more literate (did he?) but that young men could DO things, not be babied.

Schools taught obedience, boredom, factory prep.

GI Bill permitted youth to get college in large numbers, less struggle with financial crunch, focus on learning, including “arts” not just technology and business, more rounded education.

Boomers then more open to radical ideas by Vietnam, and alt to US corp State.

This was trouble for JE Hoover, right? COINTELPRO? Kerner Comm?

  12. Ekhemos Says:

Not even the first point made is this video is close to being correct.

  13. y2knoproblem Says:

I don’t want a corporation like McDonald’s teaching my kids. Period.

  14. DontGoToCollege Says:

Americans WERE the most educated and literate people BEFORE the government take over of schools.

Gatto is correct and so are you partially. Govt schools make good factory workers. They teach you to be part of the machine. Since when do govt schools teach you how to run machines?

Who has found wisdom through the GI Bill? You can’t teach wisdom in a classroom - only information.

  15. DontGoToCollege Says:

They may have copied the FORM of American industrialism but they did NOT COPY the economic system. There was no accountability in the Soviet economic model so it collapsed. There was no incentive to make a quality product.

In the days of one-room school houses, people were better educated and socially adjusted. Who cares about attendance? If some kids didn’t go they were learning a trade.

Many countries (like the US) are in gross stagnation because of public education.

  16. 888music Says:

I guess there is some hope for the future of this once great country.

  17. 888music Says:

Public education IS the dangerous ideology and manipulation. Public education was brought is so governments could dumb down and control the population and turn us into sheep. It promotes conformity to government so they can soften us up while they use our money for banker bailouts and wars.

It is a monopoly because they take our money at the point of a gun (taxes) to pay for government schools.

  18. dilbertgeg Says:

by the way, a lot of what made the Soviet Union so conformist is that they COPIED American industrialism and turned the USSR into a giant factory for mass production.
Adam Curtis has a vid showing the USSR using a booming Gary, Indiana as a model city.

Gatto says it’s not bad teachers so much as management punishes innovative teachers. Yet one-room school houses, how dysfunctional were they? Attendance? Violent teachers or kids? Many countries in gross stagnation w/o public education.

  19. dilbertgeg Says:

public education was conceived as a solution to a situation of most people having no basic ed, no ability to run the machines, modern cities, industrial age

Gatto says it’s published as a conspiracy by management and business to keep the largest numbers functionally dumb and pliable, unaware of real history, powerless. The wealthy buy education to become LEADERS.

When the GI Bill permitted many to have free college, some found wisdom, but this spawned organized soc rebellion.

  21. WiseFlow28 Says:

Amazing video, we need to get this out to the public.

  22. 74u73hjd Says:

“Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.”

    Joseph Stalin

  23. DontGoToCollege Says:

The United States had affordable one-room school houses. When government took over schools - illiteracy INCREASED.

Government schools, like all “public” services, are high cost & low quality. Schools are affordable when you don’t pay the salaries of layers and layers of bureaucracy (and sports stadiums, cheerleading coaches, parking lots etc.) A neighborhood has an area for a school house and hires a teacher. The kids work together and help each other without being militarized in grade levels.

  24. fightingforcrayons Says:

ok…but a free market solution is really no solution at all. how are schools in a free market supposed to fund themselves without the government? we already have those…private schools, and those are too expensive for the majority of people. sure, creating more would reduce the cost, maybe. but either way, there are a lot of people out there who can’t afford to pay for education. education shouldn’t be exclusive to only those who can afford it.

  25. 74u73hjd Says:

ADD means you don’t want to listen to boring, uninteresting crap in school then that’s what your totalitarian dictatorial teachers label you as!!
